Pilot Certificate – Advanced Operations

Thunderbird Geospatial Inc.’s acquisition team are required to have completed an RPAS Advanced Ground School, including the mandatory testing and flight reviews to obtain an Advanced Drone Pilot License with Transport Canada. The Advanced Drone Piloting program assures our pilots are trained in Air Law, Air Traffic Rules and Procedures, including Navigation, Meteorology , Theory of Flight, Flight Operations and much more crucial information for Advanced Operations.

Although we make it a primary responsibility to abide by the laws set in CARs for Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems, Thunderbird is capable of performing even more advanced operations under a Special Flight Operations Certificate (SFOC-RPAS), that gives you permission to operate your drone outside the rules for a specific purpose such as flying at higher altitudes, beyond visual line of sight (VLOS).

Thunderbirds pilots are also additionally trained for a range of different flight missions including advanced LiDAR acquisition training.
